Trade Show Booth Types: Find the Right Fit for Your Next Event

Whether you're prepping for your very first trade show or you've been to a few and still figuring things out as you go, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the right booth type. Your booth layout doesn’t just affect how your space looks—it influences how attendees experience your brand, how much traffic you attract, and how successful your event ends up being.

Here’s a guide to the most common trade show booth types so you can head into your next show with clarity and confidence:

Inline Booths
The most standard option, inline booths are arranged in a row with neighboring booths on both sides and are open only at the front. These typically come in 10'x10' or 10'x20' sizes and are a great choice for first-time exhibitors or anyone looking for a cost-effective, straightforward setup. With limited exposure, your back wall becomes the main visual focus—so make it count.

Corner Booths
Corner booths are positioned at the end of an aisle and are open on two sides, usually in sizes like 10'x10' or 10'x20'. This layout increases visibility and allows for better flow, giving your display more breathing room than a standard inline booth. It’s a strategic upgrade that draws more foot traffic without the jump in space or cost that comes with larger booth formats.

Peninsula Booths
With three open sides, peninsula booths offer more layout flexibility and room for interaction. These booths are often chosen by brands looking to create engaging demos, lounge areas, or experiential spaces. They stand out more than a corner or inline booth, helping you make a stronger visual impact.

Island Booths
Island booths, typically starting at 20'x20', are open on all four sides, providing the highest visibility and design flexibility. This layout allows you to engage attendees from every angle, making island booths perfect for large activations, product displays, or brands aiming to make a strong impact. Although they require a larger investment, the exposure and opportunities they offer often result in significant returns.

Tabletop Displays
For smaller events, tabletop displays provide a compact and budget-friendly way to present your brand. Typically designed to fit on standard 6' or 8' tables, they’re lightweight, portable, and easy to set up—ideal for networking events, job fairs, or trying out a new show without committing to a full booth. It’s a simple, professional solution when space and convenience matter most.

Perimeter Booths

Perimeter booths are located along the outer walls of the exhibit hall, typically in sizes like 10'x10' or 10'x20'. With only the front side open to foot traffic, they offer a quieter, more controlled environment—ideal for focused conversations, private meetings, or in-depth product demos. This setup suits brands that prefer a less crowded space while still maintaining a professional presence.

Which Booth Style Is Best for You?
Start by defining your goals. Are you trying to generate leads, showcase a new product, or increase brand awareness? Each booth type supports a different kind of strategy—and understanding what each offers helps you make the best call for your brand, your budget, and your team.
